Oxidized Bitumen

Blown bitumen grades or Oxidized Bitumen (also called hard bitumen) are produced by passing air through the petroleum Bitumen grades using additives and materials. During this process bitumen acquires rubbery properties higher than its original formula. Oxidized Bitumen can be produced in several grades with different penetration and softening points, brittleness and packaging according to the place of application. Oxidized Bitumen is applied into the below applications:

Roofing – Pavement – Pipe Coating – Hydraulic Applications – Paint Manufacturing – Battery Production

Also Oxidized Bitumen under controlled temperature conditions is widely used as an anti-slip layer compound in the piling industry, roofing felts, waterproofing industries and sound dampening felts.

While a major application is also Bitumen Shingles; blown bitumen is also used in the manufacturing of bituminous marine mastic for the oil & gas pipeline joints.

Atlas Elements is also proud to manufacture specialized grades of Oxidized bitumen for specialty requirements in the drilling industry and military usage as below:

Oxidized Bitumen Powder for Drilling

Atlas MTL grade Blown Bitumen covers a hot-melt asphaltic compound for coating the inner walls of metal cases prior to filling with explosives.
